UOP (Universal Oil Products), Des Plaines, Illinois, 1989 - 1993

Senior Design Engineer - Corresponded with owner and contractor to define project objectives and schedule. Coordinated equipment design with equipment specialists. Maintained design basis and cross tie consistency with other engineers.

Project Engineer - Computer simulators used to size petrochemical complexes including distillation, absorption and reactor columns. Project specifications written for: Rotating Equipment, Heat Exchangers, Vessels, Control Valves, and Relief Valves.

THE AUSTIN COMPANY, Des Plaines, Illinois, 1987 - 1989

Process Engineer - Calculated both material and energy balances. Sized and selected process equipment such as: piping networks, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, filter systems, vacuum dryers, absorption columns, and distillation columns. Sketched and updated process flow diagrams and P&IDs.

Field Engineer - Conducted field inspections of piping systems, process equipment, and utility packages. Confirmed equipment installation, alignment, lubrication, piping, wiring, and instrumentation. Calibrated digital and analog controllers. Expedited resolution of punch lists, and represented engineering interests during start-up with vendor and owner.

BARR COMPANY, Niles, Illinois 1986 -1987

Chemical Processing Supervisor - Directed chemical operators and maintenance in the production of various aerosol and liquid consumer products such as deodorants, hair care, and household cleaners. Developed alternative, temporary manufacturing methods when equipment failure prohibited normal production. Enforced safe working practices and made recommendations to decrease production expenses.
